Interview – Hello Future, single ‘Do You Feel Alive’, Oct 27th – follow @hellofutureuk

Artist name: Hello Future
Release name: (album? single? EP?) Single – Do You Feel Alive
Release date: 27th October

1. Where and when did you first discover your interest in music?

Well I have always listened to music. My dad would listen to bands and artists like, Mike and mechanics, The faces, Rod Stewart, Rolling stones, van Morrison, Fleetwood mac. So I would hear music all the time in the house and car. However I discovered I wanted to play guitar randomly at an Oasis gig in Aberdeen. Half way through the gig, Liam Gallagher had walked off stage and Noel played the rest of the set on acoustic. I was like “I want to do that”.

2. What are your main ambitions in the industry?

Ha, well I can sit here and say, I want to sell out stadiums and sell a million records, which would be amazing obviously. But honestly, If I can play and record the music I love and be able to pay some bills. I will be a very happy man.

3. When did you start writing your own songs/music?

As soon as I was able to play guitar at a reasonable level, I have never really been into learning covers or playing other peoples songs. I know a few but would rather write my own.

4. What would you say is your music career highlight to date?

We played a gig with ‘Scouting for girls’ recently at St Andrews union for fresher’s week. Even though our band sounds nothing like SFG. Great guys but I am personally not a fan of their music. We did play to a sold out crowd, the venue held 1000 people and they were an amazing crowd. So I do thank ‘scouting for girls’ for helping us play to a crowd of that size.

5. Who will we hear in your songs? What are your influences?

It has been said our music has hints of Blink 182, biffy clyro, weezer to name a few. These bands are an influence to an extent, but there are so many bands that influence our music from, The Rolling stones, The faces, Taking back Sunday, Jimmy eat world, The Subways, sigur ros, Manchester orchestra, oasis, Jonsi……so hopefully people will hear a few different influences throughout our music ,while still making it our own.

6. What’s the most important thing you’d want to tell people about your current release?

It’s a feel good song and the right vibe to finish of the summer and take us into the winter months.  Also to tell everyone that the single gets released on the 27th of October and its free to download:)

7. Who else can you recommend from your genre or local area for people to have a listen to?

The Dundee music scene is really cool at the moment and there is always good gigs on and we have some really cool venues like Buskers, Non Zero’s and the new South Tay Superstore.  Bands you should check out are Fat Goth who are an incredible band and amazing live. Model Aeroplanes who have a cool pop sound and Scary People who are brilliant also.
