Mo Evans ‘Spilled My Love’ EP out now

MO EVANS
‘SPILLED MY LOVE’ E.P
RELEASED NOVEMBER 2014

1) Where and when did you first discover your interest in music?

MO: I grew up with parents who worked in music so I was exposed to the
recording environment from a very young age. The family home up in
Scotland had a studio where my parents would be working so pretty much
from day one I was in the midst of it all!

2) What are your main ambitions in the industry?

MO: A big ambition would be to maintain a career within music for
years to come as it’s what I love doing the most. Having works that
can be remembered positively down the line and to be a respected for
what I do would also be nice!

3) When did you start writing your own songs/music?

MO: I wrote my first song when I was around 8 or 9 years old and I
haven’t really stopped writing since then. I think those days are just
as important as the present as you are only just starting to learn
your instrument and find out what kind of sounds and styles you enjoy,
it’s all very innocent back then as well!

4) What would you say is your musical career highlight to date?

MO: Probably going on a week long tour gigging in Austria for the
Harley Davidson Bike Rally. It had an attendance of over 100,000
people and the experience of gigging abroad is always exciting. I got
to experience the life of a musician on the road and took alot of
positives from that trip. Also playing your own music to different
crowds and seeing their reactions is always a great feeling too.

5) Who will we hear in your songs? What are your influences?

MO: Alot of people mention a few similar artists when describing my
sound. The most common being Jeff Buckley, who is also a great
influence of mine. Paolo Nutini is another that crops up. I’m also a
big fan of Ben Howard, again often cited in my comparisons. His latest
album ‘I Forgot Where We Were’ really blew me away, and I respect the
way that he has maintained his own sound and direction whilst
progressing in a more mainstream environment.

6) What’s the most important thing you’d want to tell people about
your current release?

MO: The E.P was recorded at the home studio up at Tpot Studios at the
family home in Scotland. It was produced by my dad Robin Evans who has
been producing music since before I was even born, and features alot
of musicians from the local area as well as family. My mum Sam Brown
who is also a singer also played a big role, and features good friends
on multiple instruments too. Overall it has a very close knit family
vibe to it as it was created with people I know, In a place I know so
it gives it a personal feel which I think is important in creating
original music.

7) Who else can you recommend from your genre or local area for people
to have a listen to?

MO: I’m lucky to have a great network of talented musicians based up
in Scotland near the studio which i’ve jammed and recorded with over
the years. Musicians such as FRASER ROSS, STELLA REILLY & SINDERINS.
I’ve recently moved to London and have also been working with an
amazing female singer called STEPHANIE FRASER. We’ve been working on
some great new stuff together and I tip her for great things to come.

8) Any gigs coming up?

MO: Really excited about the London E.P launch for ‘Spilled My Love’
will be with full live band at The Bedford in Balham, South London on
April 7th. I’m also playing the Durham University Ball on June 16th up
at Durham Castle, but there should be some more shows in between so
keep your eyes peeled on social media for those!

9) Where can we find/follow you online?

MO: I’m across the social media board (links below) and my new website
