Baron Goodlove – ‘Orpheus’ free download out now, EP coming soon

Artist name: Baron Goodlove & The Dreadful Noise

Release name: Debut single ‘Orpheus’

Release date: Single out now (free download), EP coming soon

Where and when did you first discover your interest in music?

At home before I can remember. My father was gigging in a pub band with my uncles and my mother is an excellent pianist. I was banging out tunes on the piano from the day I could reach the keys. I started drumming aged 9 and then picked up the guitar at 16.

  1. What are your main ambitions in the industry?

I would like to be able to record and perform my own music for as many people as possible. My ambition is to be a successful artist with longevity in the industry.

  1. When did you start writing your own songs/music?

The final year of my degree was when I started taking it seriously. That was 2014. I’ve written guitar parts for other bands before but as far as Baron Goodlove goes, it’s only a year old.

  1. What would you say is your music career highlight to date?

Having Dave Peacock from Chas & Dave actually seek out a gig I was playing because he liked the music so much.

  1. Who will we hear in your songs? What are your influences?

You will hear Jeff Buckley, Led Zeppelin, Nick Drake, Captain Beefheart, Donny Hathaway, people have said I sound similar to Gomez although I’ve not heard them, Soundgardenish maybe. I would describe my sound as grungy soul, so I have influences from D’Angelo, Donny Hathaway, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Aretha, BB King, T Bone Walker, Al Green, Marvin Sapp, Joni Mitchell etc

  1. What’s the most important thing you’d want to tell people about your current release?

I hope that my passion for the art is put across. I want it to mean something to everyone and I think that everyone can relate to it in some way. Also, I think it’s high time the guitar solo made a return to popular contemporary music!

  1. Who else can you recommend from your genre or local area for people to have a listen to?

The Twirling Canes are awesome.

  1. Any gigs coming up?

Sunday 30th August – The Greyhound, Bengeo

Thursday 24th September – Blessings Bar, Shoreditch

I’ll be heading into London for some open mics and support slots in September too.
