A longtime musician whose potential is just coming to fruition, Chris Meid’s track ‘Red River’ is a very interesting mix of EDM genres with rootsy folk. You can listen here, and find out what makes him tick below.
- Where and when did you first discover your interest in music?
My musical journey started at the very moment my uncle gave me his old keyboard when I was 4 years old. I quickly started reproducing my favourite Michael Jackson melodies on it. Later when I was 6 years old I was accepted at the Classical Musical School of Luxembourg. I started to record my ideas on my computer at the age of 16.
- What are your main ambitions in the industry?
I want to make people happy with the music I do. And of course I want my music to be spread all over the world.
- When did you start writing your own songs/music?
The first song that I wrote was some homework my piano teacher gave me when I was 13 years old. It was a simple short piano song but I’m still in hope to find that piece of paper with the notes I wrote. ^^ Whenever I find it, I’ll try to make a professional song out of it. 🙂
- What would you say is your music career highlight to date?
My highlight have been my first 100k plays on the first remix I released. I wasn’t really expecting it since I released it just for fun without expectations. It was such an amazing feeling to know that so many people listened to my remix! I think that moment pushed me to dedicate myself full-time to music.
- Who will we hear in your songs? What are your influences?
I’m a huge fan of Michael Jackson, I have all his vinyls at home! I guess he’s unconsciousness my biggest influence! But other artists influenced me a lot too like for example Pharrell Williams, Ryan Leslie or Avicii.
- What’s the most important thing you’d want to tell people about your current release?
Red River is an ode to the natural beauty around us. Let me share what Tyler wrote me the day we started writing the lyrics: “It’s nearly midnight. The moon is closer to the Earth than ever before. We’ve set up camp above the canyons beneath us. Forest surrounds us and the fire warms our cold tired bodies. We fall asleep gazing upward at the vast canvas of stars and the sound of raging waters below. The Red River.”
- Who else can you recommend from your genre or local area for people to have a listen to?
That’s a really hard question, there are so many good artists at the moment, but I’ll recommend my buddy Felix Jaehn of course, Robin Schulz, Kygo, Sam Feldt and a last one: Lost Frequencies.
- Any gigs coming up?
I’m currently at a writing/producing stage. I’m working on my 2nd single and also on my live show. I guess I’ll be ready really soon to tour the world 🙂
